Sometimes You Feel Like a Nut

The frog pond has lots of visitors. Recently a squirrel strutted by the camera. First we see him walking on top of the frame showing off his backend. Then he turns to profile and show off the juicy nut that he is carrying. It is like he knew where the camera was and he centered himself for the best view.

Little Bird - Big Bird

This year I have captured a bunch of pictures of small birds like the 3 Robins drinking from the frog pond. A couple of days later the mystery of where the large predators were was solved. They were still here but just camera shy. Although this picture isn't very good, the Hawk is back and looking good. Here he is sitting on the side of the frog pond.

Moon Over Meteor Shower

A couple of interesting photos from the wildlife camera that were taken a few nights ago. The first shows the full moon rising over the frog pond. The second I can't explain but it looks like a meteor shower. The lights in the sky are streaming in from the northwest (approximately - no compass here). And they made for an interesting picture. There weren't any storms in the area but the wind must have picked up something to reflect the flash from the camera.

One Hour Makes a Big Difference

I've talked about the Butterfly Bushes around the deck several times. For the past two years, they have grown twelve feet high. To keep them healthy and producing lots of Butterfly loving flowers, I understand they should be cut back during the winter. Last weekend it was cut back time and my wife attacked them with a vengeance. I'm worried I'll cut plants back too far so I leave it to her. She is fearless - she cut and handed the branches to me for shredding. The freshly created mulch now surrounds the little Maple Tree. As you can see, my wife didn't leave much standing. One reason we chose this weekend to cut back the bushes was the weather was beautiful. Last year it was cold and rainy and the process was very uncomfortable.

Ernie Poses with the Sculpture

Here is our year and a half old Great Dane aligning himself with our Egret Sculpture. It almost looks like he is pretending to be one of the Egrets. Now he has gone from breaking off one of the Egrets to posing with them.

Update on the Goldfish with the wound on his tail. This picture is two weeks after the first one and I don't think the problem area looks any better. I guess the good news is he is still alive.
