Beautiful Yucca Flower

The Yucca is finally in full bloom.  It is a striking display.  I hope some of the other Yuccas in the bed will learn from this one and we can have multiple giant flower stalks next year.

Big Buck - Little Buck

Here is a great picture of the big Buck we've been seeing recently.  Below is a little Buck who looks so young.

Poor Injured Deer

For the past couple of weeks we've seen this poor deer with a broken right front leg.  You can see how disfigured the leg is in these pictures.  As she hobbles along, that leg just swings like the bone is broken through and it is just hanging on by skin and muscle.  I'd guess her long term outlook isn't good but she is trying to move around and keep nibbling on grass and plants.

Black Magic Coming Back

Three weeks ago we took the Black Magic plants out of the greenhouse and put them in the pond.  While in the greenhouse, we allow them to die back and dry out completely.  To bring them back to life all we need is warm temperatures and water.  These plants are coming back strong again.

Yucca and Paw Paw Update

In the past four weeks I posted pictures of our recently discovered Paw Paw fruit and developing Yucca flower stalk.  The Paw Paw fruit continues to grow and we searched nearby trees and found about 6 other fruits.  We are anxious to taste these if they ripen and none of the critters get them before we do.  The Yucca flower stalk is now six feet tall and it looks like it will have a bunch of flowers when it blooms.

The Buck and the Beautiful Deer

A few days ago we had a large herd of deer spend some time in the front yard.  From all the pictures, we got a great picture of a buck with some nice looking antlers and a closeup of the beautiful piebald deer we have been watching for the past year.  The piebald was born last spring and we've been able to see this special deer every week or two since then.

Crotons Move Back Outside

After spending a long cold winter in the house, we finally moved the Crotons back outside.  One looks really good while the other looks a little scrawny.  Now they will spend six months in the fresh air before starting the cycle again.
