Cute Pair of Frogs in the Frog Pond

On many occasions in the past two weeks these two frogs have been sitting in this flower pot in the frog pond. They have been very patient with me in allowing many pictures. In one of the pictures, it looks like one of the frogs is giving me the evil eye. And you can see the black and white pattern on their belly. Could be a green and white but it is hard to tell without getting a much closer look. At any rate, it is great to see these frogs enjoying the frog pond.

Black Magic - Magic

Our beautiful Black Magic Elephant Ears are coming back strong. They spent the winter in the greenhouse and looked completely dead when they were moved back to the pond. After a couple of weeks they were on the way back. And now they are presenting quite a dramatic show.
We did try leaving several Black Magic plants in the pond over the winter but that didn't work too well because none of them came back.

New Camera Art

Once again accidental art is created with the wildlife camera. People argue about what is art and lots of stuff called art has me scratching my head. So I feel very comfortable calling this art. The half swirls of bright white on a green leafy background make quite an interesting effect. I haven't decided if this is as cool as the bubbly algae but it ranks right there with it.

Please Stay Outside the Fence

Last week I was walking the fence and Mr. Black Snake was lying just on the other side. He was kind enough to stay put while I went inside to get the camera and take this picture. I'd love to make a deal where he stays outside of the fence so I don't have to use the snake stick.
Below is a young Bullfrog enjoying a bed of algae in the large pond. His coloring is lighter and grayer than the large Bullfrog who posed earlier this month.

300 Posts and the Bullfrog in the Large Pond

When I logged in this evening to write this post, the blog stats said this was going to be post number 301 and it includes over 4 megs of photos. Anyway here is a giant Bullfrog hanging out the in the large pond looking pretty satisfied with his environment. In the second picture he is floating under the Shark float (maybe getting some shade from the sun). I don't know if this is the guy that was in the frog pond earlier this year but he is about the same size. Last night this guy was croaking away talking to another frog in the pond.

Really, Really Hot

It has been incredible hot the past couple of days, hitting 100+ yesterday and today. The wildlife camera caught another one of those unique pictures that meets the mood of the weather. I'm not quite sure what the picture is but to me it exemplifies HOT! We haven't had much wildlife action but the Crow is hanging around posing for the camera every chance he gets. Great face profile here.

Deer by Day, Deer by Night

We have an apple tree next to the large pond and every year the squirrels chew parts of the apples and throw them on the deck. This brings the bees running which is dangerous for us and makes it hard to enjoy the pond. Last year I started collecting the apples daily and throwing them over the fence. Guess what the Deer love apples. Here are a couple of pictures of the neighbors enjoying the apples both day and night. I keep hoping I'll catch a picture of a buck but no luck so far. I have seen some Deer developing antlers but nothing dramatic yet.
