Dying Sunflowers

The once beautiful sunflowers are really looking very sad.  This morning they were strung with spider webs as they fade and droop with leaves wilting from the branches.  Interesting color changes from the first picture with a flash and the second without the flash.

Ghostly Deer

I wonder when the deer sleep.  These pictures were snapped at about 4 am as the deer were grazing on the grass in the front yard.

One Big Bullfrog

This picture doesn't really show how big this bullfrog is.  He must be about as big as a 5 inch circle.  We've seen him sitting in that spot on the rock several times and he finally stayed long enough for me to get a picture.  The second is a frog in the small pond about 1/3 the size of the bullfrog.

Triplets

I got some fun pictures of the neighborhood baby deer this week.  Three of the babies paused in front of the camera at just the right spot for a great picture. Interestingly one of the deer has a slightly darker brown coat. A few minutes later two of the babies gave a closeup.   In the closeup there are 5 small black dots behind the eye.

Mom and Special Baby

We were lucky to get two more pictures of the baby deer with the special coat.  The mom and baby spent more than an hour in the front yard nibbling on grass around the planting areas.  If you look close you can see some of the detail around the babies eye.

Snakes and Butterflies

I found an interesting sight on the back of the shed.  On the wall about five feet above the ground was a snake skin from one of the Black snakes that inhabit our area.  He may have been using the gap in the wood to help pull the skin off his body.  It is like he hooked the tail and slid out the head end.  Below are a couple of beautiful butterflies enjoying the purple flowers on one of the Butterfly Bushes.  This time of year these bushes really live up to their name attracting more butterflies than you can easily count.
